After solving the puzzles on the same side of the Borg Cube as
the AllSpark, solvers are presented with the following answers (in
alphabetical order):
AUSTERE TYPEFACE
COLOR MICROGRAPHY
GERI HALLIWELL
LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS
MISFIT MATHEMATICIANS
RECREATIONAL USE
Each word of the answers is a unique length which corresponds to
one of the initial words of the given blank transformation
chains. Next, solvers must determine the mechanics of
transformation, which can be determined by studying the example
steps:
- Red: Delete the letter
- Green: Double the letter
- Yellow: Replace the letter with a single bit flip in its 5-bit binary representation
The important yellow transform is confirmed by flavor about
“electronic gymnastics” (which in retrospect, is “bit flips”). The
word “Enable” is capitalized in flavor, indicating that words must
come from the
Enhanced
North American Benchmark LExicon (ENABLE) wordlist.
However, even using ENABLE to constrain possible transformation
steps, there are several options for each chain. The key
realization, as specified in the flavor, is that the final
configuration is a car model (which is also a word in
ENABLE). With this constraint, the chains all have unique
solutions:
Reading the first letters of the car models in the given order
spells out what can defeat Megatron, namely (Optimus)
