This puzzle begins as a diagramless cryptic Some Assembly Required. The answers to the Row clues are entered into the corresponding rows, one after another in the order given. The grid can be partitioned into ten rooms which answer the Rooms clues, as shown above.

In addition, each clue provides an extra letter in the wordplay portion of the clue. The extra letters in the Rooms clues spell STAR BATTLE. It turns out that the partitioned grid can be solved as a two-star Star Battle logic puzzle (place two stars in every row, column, and region without the stars touching, even diagonally). The unique solution is shown by the red letters above.

The extra letters in the Rows clues spell EVERY FIFTH IS NEXT TYPE. Reading every fifth star from the Star Battle spells LITS. LITS is also the name of a logic puzzle, which involves shading a tetromino in each region to form a connected group, without allowing two tetrominoes of the same shape to touch or a 2×2 square to be fully shaded. It turns out the partitioned grid can also be solved uniquely as a LITS puzzle; the result is shown in the shading above. Reading the letters that correspond to places where the LITS tetrominoes overlap the stars spells BISTROS, the final answer.
