We are given a list of pictures, some equations, and a smorgasbord of sounds. As hinted by the flavor text, each sound can be resolved to something that produces the sound. The list of sounds can be identified first:

47 | YOYO |
To aid in solving, these sounds are given in alphabetical order, and match up exactly with the enumerations at the bottom of the puzzle.
The given equations suggest that we can build something new by using each of the 47 sounds in one of the ten equations. Next, we realize that some of the sound emitters contain similar letters (eg. MARKER/SNOOKER or PHOEBE/HOE). Some of these are easier to break in than on others, given the list of sound emitters. For example, the existence of BEE, PHOEBE and SHEEP and an image of a roadrunner might lead us to arrive at the equation BEE + (PHOEBE - HOE) + SHEEP - SE = BEEPBHEEP, which is the sound a famous roadrunner makes, but with an extra letter embedded.
Clued in the flavortext (“Who…?”), we discover that each of the animals also clues a cartoon character, and each equation resolves to a sound or catchphrase they are known for, with an extra letter inserted. (The animals are given in alphabetical order by character name to aid in identification.)
Order | Animal | Character | "sound" | Equation | Result | Extra Letter |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Panda | Po (Kung Fu Panda) | SKADOOSH | (WHISK + (PUMA - M) - WHIP) + (DOMINOES - MINE) + H | SKUADOOSH | U |
2 | Dog | Scooby Doo | RUH ROH | BRUSH + ATM - BAT + IROH + TEN - SMITE | RUHROHN | N |
3 | Bear | Pooh | OHBOTHER | BLOO + HBO + NETHER - BONE | LOHBOTHER | L |
4 | Cat | Felix the Cat | RIGHTY O | SCREW - CREW + LAWORDER - SWORD + (LIGHTSABER - LAB) - LASER + YOYO/2 | ERIGHTYO | E |
5 | Mouse | Speedy Gonzales | ARRIBA | CAR + RAIN + NBA - CNN | ARRAIBA | A |
6 | Penguin | Pingu | NOOT NOOT | MAR + SNOOKER - MARKER + (TNT + RAM - TRAM) + (BOOTS - BS) | SNOOTNOOT | S |
7 | Roadrunner | Road Runner | BEEP BEEP | BEE + (PHOEBE - HOE) + SHEEP - SE | BEEPBHEEP | H |
8 | Snail | Gary | MEOW | MICE + LU + BOW - CLUB | MIEOW | I |
9 | Turtle | Michelangelo | COWABUNGA | COW + NAP + BUNNY - (PONY - O) + GAGA/2 | COWNABUNGA | N |
10 | Duck | Donald Duck | AW PHOOEY | AWP + HOOK + GORO + KEY - KOROK | AWPHOOGEY | G |
Reading the extra letters in the given equation order gives the answer UNLEASHING.
This puzzle was inspired by the flavor for its puzzle icon, which was locked in before the puzzle was written.
The original iteration of the puzzle featured only Batman onomatopoeia, but construction was difficult. In the end this was swapped out for a wider range of cartoon characters.
